Here is one I sold with flight damage that had been converted to ailerons and a flat wing. Flew well once you got it rolling fast enough to prevent snapping on T.O.! This one was built by a friend of mine who did the conversion to full house but he never flew it because he was afraid that he would crash it. So, I bought it and installed the first .40 OS 4 stroke out in the early 80's. It flew well and tracked like an arrow!
Had skis on it during winter and flew many flights off a lake. Skis made it easer to T. O. because with limited power of the early OS .40 4-stroke, it would "roll" or move faster on the frozen lake which prevented snapping on lift off!
Enjoyed it and even put the first OS .60 4 stroke with the open rockers in it and flew it for a while until a tail heavy incident made me crash which was a direct result of trading engines and forgetting to re-balance the model. I don't want to talk about it!
But, I have another S. FS4 Monocoupe kit that I bought in 1962, started building it and never finished as the wing is covered (nylon) and everything else is framed but not covered. This was built as the original rudder only version. I have hauled it around for over forty years from one job location to another and still have it in good condition. Since it is still unfinished, would I get some kind of award when I do finish and fly it as the longest build time on record????
