The advantage of LiPo is increased power and runtime with decreased weight. Perfect for this application. Most people run two packs in series. I have two 6000Mah LiPo's at 7.4 volts each. In series, that's 14.8 volts (still 6000 Mah).
My runtime is around 20 minutes. I use a Duratrax ICE charger. I understand that LiPo's can be charged in parallel, but I've never tried it and won't. Doesn't make sense anyway. It would take twice as long to charge, so mys well charge them separate. There are dual chargers or you can use too.
