Default RE: Stearman Detailing Update

I didn't order the tail wheel but I did order the main landing gear wheels. They take a 1/4th in axle which is way better and stronger than the stock metric screws they intend you to use.

The diameter of the T-6 style aircraft wheel I ordered is 5 1/2 inches. If you know the correct size for the main wheels on a Stearman and then scale that down to 23 percent of full scale that will give you the exact diameter. I think 5.5 inches is pretty close.

As far as the snorkel goes I am making my own out of a 90 degree PVC elbow. Once I'm done I can post a picture. The process was completed by "Outacontrol41" back on page 6 of this thread. Why don't you drop him a line for the specifics of how to make one.

As far as strengthening the fuselage goes. If you’re done with the fuselage, try holding the firewall with one hand and then give the tail section a twist. That was way too much flexibility for my taste. I wanted to make sure that under the load of pulling a BIG loop that the elevator control would be stable and not diminish or cause the tail to wash out one way or the other. a few pieces of 1/64" birch sheeting made it rock solid.
