I wouldn't paint anything real important or nice without one, all compressors create moisture. I use compressed CO2 so I have no idea what traps are better than others. For paints, my favorite are the Parma brand, they are water based so cleanup is a breeze. I would stick with water based at first..... When you get something painted let us see..
