I have no idea how to choose a die to thread 0.078" music wire!

Is it as simple as getting a die with the same thickness wire?

And 0.078" is almost 2mm. If I need a 'standard' sized die, what would that be?

You won't be able to cut threads in music wire. It's too hard. Typically, hard bolts or rods are theaded in a "rolling" process, which makes the size of the threads larger than the size of the original rod diameter.

What is it you're going to connect? Perhaps prethreaded pushrod wire would work, or perhaps we could suggest another solution.
