C160 problems and my solution
Well, I should have listened to all the tips on RCU about mounting 2 strokes inverted. I tried to get away with mounting my TT pro 25's inverted in my C160 because it looked better and less of the cowl had to be cut away. I finally got around to firing up the engines to break them in and I had nothing but troubles. The fuel would literally pour down into the carb and flood the engines out. I tried flipping the plane upside down to start them and this didn't help either. I also tried different glow plugs- including those with idler bars and this didn't help either.
Long story short, is I went ahead and ripped the engines out and took the nacelles off and am starting over. Needless to say, the nacelles were attached pretty good with silicone and I pretty much destroyed them in the process of taking them off- not to mention I did a small number on the wing too. THe wing can be easily repaired and I re-ordered some replacement nacelles from AK models.
Lesson learned and I won't do that again. Now I have to start over with the engine install- which was a royal pain in the ***** to begin with the first time.
