I have had one 'hot'start caused by starting after refuelling with the fuel tap accidentally left open. However, this was not too hot and it was obvious what had happened.
I have had a couple of hot starts caused by too much gas. These hot starts are HOT and the temperature rapidly increases (I have easily had mine over 800 with too much gas). I agree with J.F. that too much gas is probably your problem. I am not sure of the setup of the 44 autostart (mine is manual) but would try reducing the gas (by a restrictor or by closing the valve a bit if it has one). You can tell if you have restricted it too much as it won't light. In normal starting this engine uses VERY little gas.
