RE: gas fuel with glo plug no ignition
Well guys, I'm pretty pleased with my Poulan 42cc on gas/glow on my Giant Big Stik. The power is a bit less than I thought I'd see with it turning an APC 18 x 8 prop at 8300, but it sure pulls the Giant Stik around well so I'm probably not going to worry about it. The 13.5 mm carb works better than the 11 mm that I had on it. Someday I might get ambitious and put my new Bowman ring in the engine, and perhaps a little bit larger carb. But then again, it pulls the airplane vertically out of sight, and will loop at half throttle so why bother?
No problems or modifications to use gas/glow with this engine. When I put the 13.5 mm carb on it, I rebuilt the carb first and raised the regulator lever a bit. It was running too rich and needed the needles almost closed, so I put the regulator lever back to stock and it now runs perfect.
I really like the Giant Big Stik, but I think the Hangar 9 Ultra Lite Stick 120 was just a touch better at aerobatics. I may change my mind with a few more trimming and adjusting flights however. I like the size, looks, and strength of the Giant Stik better than the Ultra Lite Stik 120, and I definitely like the two piece wing better!!
So anyway, if you have any thoughts of doing "Gas/Glow" with the Poulan 42/46cc engines, it works great.
