bigger pitch means the airplane will go faster but will lack in pulling power longer prop means more pulling power but slower revolving prop. Its a balancing act between having the proper size prop so that you get maximum speed or tractor power without overloading an engine which will cause it to produce less power. Follow recommended prop sizing then experiment with minor changes to determine what is best for your needs.
