The question that comes to mind is what type of "newbie" are you?? Are you new to the flying, or just new to RCU?? If you are new to flying then an "Extra" type of airplane is way beyond the type of plane that you should be worrying about. An Extra is a very aerobatic plane that takes a lot of skill to fly. I'm not saying that you can't fly this type of plane, but rather I am saying that it's not the type of plane that you should be starting out on. In fact, an Extra isn't even a 2nd plane but more like a 3rd or 4th plane as you learn to fly. If you are looking for a plane to start out on you would probably do better to look at one of the high wing trainers that are available.

If you are just new to RCU then I welcome you to RC Universe. The discussion of building an Extra 300 is beyond the scope of the beginner's forum and probably should be discussed in kit building or acrobatic forums.
