Header tank on a DZ
The only time I can see using a header tank on the DZ is if you are not using the Foam clunk.....Since the clunk comes with the motor...just use this in place of your regular clunk.....They sell extras too....
I have run the DZ on a standard clunk...and it works fine..The problem is below half tank it may hick up a little or a couple times...it might even get a big enough gulp of air to die....
But I flew it a bunch and was able to complete a P-03 sequence and then at least get into and F-03 before the sag of n air bubble...This is witha 20oz Tettra tank and stad clunk....
With the Foamie clunk I can get to the Rolling loop from the top and sometimes it will have a hick up going up the hill....And sometimes not...Most definately I get a hick up on the Humpy with a full roll up and 2 neg snaps down....But sometimes I can even complete this one....It about 90% of my flights I can complete everything but the last maneuver the Hourglass...and sometimes I can even do it....this is all with flying the P-03 pattern as well.
The header tank will work on the un-pumped motors....And it works well. Another thing that it works on is if you are tail heavy and approaching the 5kg limit.....Since the last couple ozs can be far forward this will make for a steady CG until they are gone then the shift will be more aft....This is a way to move weight that is already inside your airplane...Fuel and doesn't count when you are on the scale.....Of course the extra weight of the tank and plumbing has to be there....But in some cases this is less than the 4oz of lead you are adding to the nose....
