RE: House of Balsa Extra 300L
I am not familiar with the HOB Extra 300L on how well the kit is designed for ease of assembly or how well the instructions are written.
I built a HOB PT-19 as my first kit, it was not an easy build but I completed it and it flew well. The kit I had was a combination of die cut and laser cut parts and the two did not match very well. I would do much better with it now that I have a couple of other kits under my belt.
The newbie part makes me wonder about your experience level too, if this is your first airplane and you do not know how to fly yet the Extra won't be a good plane to learn with (as everyone else has indicated).
The Great Planes PT60 is a great kit to build and it is a wonderful flying model.
If you already know how to fly a model plane as an alternative but similar kit to the HOB Extra one of our club members built a Great Planes Extra 300S and it is a great flying plane, the build report was very positive and it will slow down to a crawl to land.
Good luck and have fun.
