Default RE: top speeds...

ORIGINAL: ProStreetCamaro

My friend races his truck at maryland international raceway which has a 132' track for RC cars also. His truck traps between 48-52 depending on conditions. I just beat him pretty good with my new Ofna violator which has a .28 on it. I am going to assume its a picco .28 and my buggy is bone stock for now.
First, there is noway a stock violator with the force .28 and the low RPMs that the engine has will hit 48+ mph. Second, our straight away here is 130' long with a high speed corner entering it and we are topping out at 45mph at the very most (we never had a radar gun at the bottom end but theres noway its around 50mph). So what engine is in your friends truck to do this anyway? If he has it setup like an actual monster truck and it isn't lowered then I'd like to know how hes accelerating that fast without flipping over backwards. The LST2s are having a problem with that here sometimes.

Aangelet there are some great big displacement engines out there but you can't feel it in a buggy unless your bashing in grass, mud, or sand. These buggies are so light they would just blow the tires off before anything so you wont even notice how much torque it really has untill you put it into a truck. Not to mention theres pleanty of .21s that will blow the tires off of these buggies. Yes, you can gear a big displacement engine higher as well but its not going to make up for 5,000-10,000 RPMs.
