First off... a broken in engine has no pinch, it has compression...or lack thereof if it is used up.

The only accurate ways of determining the state of the engine would be a compression check,leakdown test, or good ol fashioned thrash on it and see if you can get her tuned.

Compression checks/leakdown tests should only be done when the engine is cold.
