You did a great job, excellent build! That has been my most popular design, modified by lots of folks from 14" up to over 24" in length. I never tried steps on that particular hull, but they worked well on others, increasing speed but degrading turning slightly. Your steps are not too large and probably don't hurt turning much at all.
