Nice description of the lay-up process. Thanks. I'm in the preliminary stages of a P-51 project (won't be done for another year or so). But, I had an idea that I thought I'd toss out here for discussion.
On the question of rigidity, what if one were to lay in a panel of soft 1/16" balsa between two layers of 9 oz cloth. Balsa itself isn't all that rigid, I agree. But when sandwiched between two layers of cloth, I wonder what the outcome would be like, for both rigidity and weight?
Just a thought...
