RE: CG Chipmunk mods
I've been flying my CG SC for several years with no problems with the gear. I too had read about possible weakness where they mount in the wing so I added balsa doublers to each rib where the blocks glue to the ribs. Also I doubled the rib at the anchor point. The gear doesn't like rough fields so keep your taxi speeds slow.
It is a beautiful bird in the air and is my favorite flyer. OS .61fx, flaps, two wing servos, and if I was building another I would mount the rudder + elevator servos near the tail.
