I would think it would be fine for the lost plane function running of BEC power, but your ESC will still be your primary warning for low voltage. I'm waiting for my CC T-bird 18 ESC to arrive, neat feature, when battery is connected it beeps every so many seconds when the throttle is closed. Primary purpose was to alert you that battery is still connected so you don't forget and ruin a good lipo, but hey, you get a "sorta" plane finder for free
