Woj,
As an owner of 2 AMT USA turbines, I have to say you make a very very compelling argument. I have not needed service on my engines yet, however when I do, it would make me think long and hard about sending it to OH for repair. I will say I bought my 2 engines used and so far they have performed well.
It really seems that AMT USA OH has just missed the boat on this one. From a business standpoint I simply for the life of me can't understand their logic. One one hand I feel for AMT USA buying into a crappy situation, but not making it right is unexcusable from a business sense point of view.
Mike, i did also own a at180 for some time. It was an engine from 1995 with many hours on it, and was an older air start model. This was one of the best 20 lbs class engines i have ever ran. The spool up time was great, and it ran like a Swiss watch ! I did end up selling the engine as i don't use engines under 27lbs throes any more these days ... my at180 was VERY nice. These days there are several locations besides AMT USA where you can get an AMT engine serviced ( not sure on the at400s however ) ... I know Carlos from RTI has the capability of servicing these, and better yet, so does AMT Netherlands ( I would contact Tom Cook from jet model products on that one .. )
regards,
Wojtek
