Wind is a factor also. If there is any wind the plane needs to be nosed into it slightly to sustain a non-torque roll hover.
Most planes at some point, near vertical or slightly passed vertical, will start to torque roll. If you just want to hover (not torque roll) the nose needs to be slightly less than vertical..
