That's true... All sanctioned flying sites require AMA in order to fly. Thats why I like the heli's, they can be flown almost anywhere. I paid for AMA for 1 year, earned 2 years for signing up 6 people, then let it lapse. The problem is, if ya don't fly every weekend, it's hard to justify the fee, which is over $50.00 now im pretty sure. Plus you have to join the local club or they ***** about you not contributing to the field by paying the dues. Well, I don't like model airports anyway... I'd rather fly my planes in the country and have different scenery every time. The $100.00 or so I save, pays for most of my fuel for the year. Also, it's my understanding that AMA will only pay a claim if you are flying at a sanctioned field, and flying according to their guidelines. No thanks, there's enough control in the world already... I don't need any more...
