My first model was a little chukie glider that I made when I decided to try a balsa model as a change from the plastic models I was building and painting up at the time. It was fall / winter 1965 and I was 11 years old.

And to set the pace for most of my later modeling it was my own design to boot. Didn't get my first Cox 049 until about a year later. And then came 2 or 3 failed attempts along with the carcasses to show for it as I taught myself how to fly controline. My first success at control line after 2 kits and an own design was.... you guessed it.... my own design again.
