when I started I worried about this. I used a radio beacon but out by Estes for locating model rockets. You put the device in the plane and have a little hand unit with you. it changes tone with increased signal kinda like a metal detector. Haven't offered that in years though. I lost my radio beacon in a bike that got stolen
