RE: Flying Fish
SJN
My boss and I ordered that boat and I posted on here about it a few weeks ago. Jack***** sent same frequency so I returned mine. Then ordered a 41 catamaran by NQD it never came, got refunded then just broke down and shelled out the extra cash for a Traxxas villain EX.
He loves the "flying Fish". I drove it a bunch and it really is a blast for out of the box and first time drivers. First impressions driving it was damn this thing is big and it can handle any friggin wave that comes at it full throttle as long as you hit the wave head on. We have a huge lake here in GA and he hit at least a 2 foot wave, it went up got air, and came down flat. Very stable boat. No waddle like my EX probably due to the beam and side tubes. Its a wide deep hull. and those little tubes on the side really do add alot of stability, you can see them making a difference. Just dont hit anything though. He hit some rocks and took a small piece of the nose off and took out the props! We fixed that and he is good to go. Boat takes on minimal water even in rough water.
It is a great boat with a huge hull to mod, plenty of room! No floatation in the boat, however after playing with it, stock motors, there was no way to flip this thing. The vector thrust isnt so much fun. The boat is not as bad as some, but do to the size it gets bogged down. That would be the mod that has to be doen to really enjoy the size and stability. But very quick to accelerate once straight. His tracks straight as an arrow and I didn't notice any power defficiency in either engine to effect tracking. I do like the idea it came with a 12 volt battery. Charge time for it was about 4 hours full.
Transmitter is basic, three function. All power forward, left right. NOTHING else. I read your product description and this thing doesnt go backward at all. Full charge lasted about 15 min or so full throttle with the 12 v included NiCd.
I am sure you will like modifying it and checking it out. Hope this helps...
