RE: Vectorflight Edge 540 build
All,
After many successful flights with this wonderful Edge, I crashed landed it after a deadstick on base leg to final turn. It was a bad, low approach anyway, and by the time I realized the engine was dead, it was very low and approaching stall. Stall it did, and I tried to strike a balance between dropping the nose and softening the impending hard landing, but it landed hard on the wheels in tall grass and with one wing down. That wing snapped off.
At first glance, the plane looked fine. Fuse undamaged, landing gear ripped off at the heads of the nylon bolts I had installed, but one wing broke from the joiner right at the wing root. Crud! The rest of the joiner is buried in the wing, and one of the joiners in the other wing also broke at the wing root. I don't know how to repair this structural damage without losing the integrity of the joiner/wing system. I wish I could simply buy a new wing from the now defunct company. Any ideas?
