Personally I love the aluminum frame. It has held up very well to my flight style. (ouch! Another crash…) It is heavier but is no problem with Lipo’s and flat bottom blades. Plus the dual tail motors NEVER even heat up. Once I added the CNC head though, it became sluggish, but it flew. Like it was fighting to keep up a hover. And the main motor was too hot to even touch. But it flew. (I still have my original, almost stock Blade to compare it to.)
So two nights ago I went brushless on the main motor. WOW!!!! It is amazing how much more power it had. Lift off at half stick! With the extra power and the extra weight, it seemed to almost float, with instant response to the sticks. Still needed to correct here and there a little… But it practically flew itself. And after 15 minutes the main motor was just a little warm.
And yes, I spent a fortune to clone a $200 Micro Heli with after-market metal upgrades. But what a learning experience! And I’ve got what I think is a really fine helicopter to compliment my empty bank account.
