It can be done either way. Personally I find that if you trim it before, you need to be more careful on your edges. You can get some paint bleeding in between the plastic wrap and the outside of the body. But if you cut it after, you could scratch the paint if you aren't careful.
My preferance is to trim it after with some curved lexan scissors.
