Thanks barracudahockey. Had a look at the engine last night. There is no apparent damage or debris in the engine (took the muffler off and had a look at the ring). The back plate does have some very light scratches on though. I'll have to do some further investigation soon. I am a bit concerned about the amount of compression when i take the plug out and put my finger over the hole (compared to an older engine i have sitting around). I know this isnt very scientific - but needs further investigation. I will probably change all fuel lines to rule this out also and see if the fan needs tightening - then go from there.
