Could be your fuel system is leaking. You can take the fuel tank out with the 2 lines plug one line put the tank and lines it a sink of water and blow into the other line that is not blocked. Look for bubbles.

If it’s not that you might have an air leak on the carburetor. I do like or run tanks with primers as they can cause problems.
