You should be in good shape then. Todays radio equipment is very reliable. Buy good electronics, install it properly, do a range check and a good pre-flight, and then go for it. Have an experienced flyer whom you respect, check out your installation. You might pick up some pointers that may help you insure success. There is nothing wrong with asking questions. I am not saying that this is you problem, but I have seen lots of installations that would concern me. It is vitally important in making your flying trouble free. Sure, thing cans and do happen, but it should not be frequent enough to lose sleep over. Get bummed when it does, get over it ,and march on.
