I would assume he means that if the battery normaly lasts for 10 mins, run it for 5 mins then recharge it.

The 2 most important things to remember with LiPos.

1) Use a cell balancer regularly. A cell that is down on voltage compaired to the others will get over discharged during use and will not fully charge. Even worse, a cell that is higher than the others will overcharge and you do not want that with a LiPo pack. Smoke, fire, insurance claims...

2) Always start your model with a fully charged battery. Most ESCs have a low voltage cutout to prevent over discharging, BUT they measure the voltage when first turned on and use that figure to calculate what voltage to cut off at. If your battery is only half charged it will calculate a lower cut off and over discharge the battery...
