Default RE: anything good to say about GP Hellcat?

If you are used to Alfa quality then yes you will be disapointed. If you can deal with a "cheaper" alfa like plane then I'd say go for it. Just be prepared to go dual aileron servos to fix the crappy linkage GP put in there and serious limitations on motor choice.

If you want an excellent replacement I highly recommend the E-Flite P-47 but it's $10 outside your range. It's built like a GWS bird but a lot more scale and the foam seems to be a lot more durable than GWS's. Much higher quality than a GWS plane.

Good luck on your decision

I'd also recommend you look at the World Models ARF's. The are balsa buildups but they are incredible performers and should take all your stuff from the alfa no problem. I've been eyeing the super chipmonk for a while now. http://ecsvr.com/abm/shopexd.asp?id=1989 and if you are looking for a warbird they have both the P-51 and the spitfire for $80 but they also sell them both WITH a brushless motor for $100 http://ecsvr.com/abm/shopexd.asp?id=2195
