When LIPO's come fresh from the factory, they are (usually) already 3/4 charged. For the best balance (and life) from the cells, it's better to use the battery in it's current, shipped state, rather than charging it first to top off the missing 1/4 and then using it.

After that initial discharge you can charge the battery normally. Like VinceHerman said. Use a 1C rate or less (equal to or less than the batteries rated capacity).
