Default RE: Royal Bearcat

I checked the plans and the Royal Bearcat has a span of 62 and 3/16s of an inch. It's a little over 48 inches long. My span is 62 so I must of sanded a little too much off the tips. I think mine weighs so much (11 1/2 lbs) because of having 8 servos and full retracts. It just makes it fly better as far as being smooth. You have to land gently but it seems to do that fairly easy. I fly off of grass most of the time but a lot of the contests are on paved surfaces. The one thing that is not very scale is the length of the main struts. The real Bearcat had such a big prop the gear was real lnog and it had a trunion that foled back on itself to shorten the gear when it retracted. I cheated a little by making the wheel wells closer together in the center of the belly pan so I could make the struts longer and they are still too short. I used a fiber glass cowl and saved a lot of work building the cowl but it wouldn't be as easy to repair if you happen to nose it over on ashphalt.
