The only way it will hurt anything is if you put too much fuel in and hydro-lock the piston, just like when you flood it. It will be very hard to pull, because the piston can not compress the fuel this can break pull starts roto-starts and one way bearings. Were you priming the engine by putting your finger over the stinger untill the fuel reached the carb? That might save you the trouble of pulling the glow plug.

I have a small priming pump in my fuel line, and I always prime it so fuel gets to my carb +1 pump.
But still get blisters. [:@]
