RE: Mid South VRCS Fly-IN Class III Pattern Results
Bob;
Just saw the great pictures. How did you get that picture of the King Altair in flight so closely cropped--did your daughter take that one too?
BTW--The Altair's modifications were built by Jack Dunn with SPA competition in mind. Primary changes were a ten-inch shortening of the original 80" wing, and a change in the vertical fin to allow for better knige-edge flight--everything else except the canopy is original K.A.
I was fortunate enough to buy this plane RTF from someone leaving the hobby. I liked the way this K.A. flys so much, I have scratch-built 2 more, with maiden flights for both scheduled later this summer---one built to the original 80" span with inverted engine, and the other a slightly clipped-wing version with 6" off the span. I DID change the fin to a bit more conventional look, but received designer Vic Husak's blessing for the change.
Jeff from Home and Hobby Solutions is planning on kitting the plane later this year in both original, and modified versions.
