Kill Switch
Hi,
I bought a used Q35 with spring starter and original coil / magneto ignition. The coil has the sparkplug wire coming from it and one spade terminal. I assumed the spade terminal if taken to ground would kill the ignition. I wired in a on/off switch between the spade terminal and the engine case. In checking the electrical continuity to determine the on vs off position of the switch, I find that this terminal is already grounded to the case. I assume internally. The switch does not break continuity. Take the switch completely out and it changes nothing.
What am I missing here? Is the coil shorted internally? Did I assume incorrectly that the spade terminal was to be used for a kill switch? Help!
