I am new to Nitro/gas powered r/c's. I just purchased a speed master vh-x5 buggy. I am having a problem getting it to start up. It didn't come with an instruction manual. The glow plug gets pretty hot, and the engine starts to turn over but dies. can anyone please let me know what i need to do? and where i can get a manual for the engine, so I know what to trouble shoot? I purchased this buggy used, but the person I purchased it from said he only used it once.
Thanks
Lee
By the sounds of it, either the needles or the trim (on the controller) are set wrong. first of all, on the throttle control there is a little tab thing next to the throttle stick. Thats the throttle trim, now with that move it up about 0.5cm By doing that it sets the idle higher. Be careful because if you set it too high the car could shoot off when you start it. If that doesnt work then it must be the air/fuel mixture. (here is the needle you have to adjust to change the air/fuel mix -
http://www.traxxas.com/support/pub/i...spd_needle.jpg) If it just dies when you rev it then the mixture is too lean. If it burbles and tries to go but dies then its too rich. If the mixture is too lean then turn the needle anti-clockwise and if its too rich turn it clockwise. Only turn it by a couple of clicks each time. Also make sure the carb is set up right, Before you adjust the needle, take off your air filter and look down the hole, there should be a gap between 3-5mm, if there isnt use the trim on the controller to fix it.
Hope ive helped,
Ryan.
(not responsible for any stupidism which caused your buggy to get destroyed :P)
