Rudder mod question...
Here's one for you guys at the next level of modeling...
I have a quarter-scale Extra with a weak rudder (structurally-wise). One possible solution is to take a carbon fiber pushrod and slot it so it slips over the trailing edge of the rudder, thus stiffening the rudder to a degree.
The c/f rod I have is 3/16" in diameter, which means that a considerable amount (1/16" at least) of this rod's diameter will protrude past the trailing edge; into the slip stream.
Hers's my question: will this cause the rudder to act differently under flight loads? It seems to me it will have SOME effect; I just have no idea whether or not that effect will be detrimental or no.
Anyone have an idea? TIA...
