Paul,

Yes, that should work fine. Use a pack that can deliver your expected current using the 70% rule-of-thumb.

Example:

A ThunderPower 1320mAh pack can be discharged at 13C average discharge rate and up to 20C for short bursts. This means that the pack can be discharged at 17A with peaks up to 26A.

70% of 20C burst is 14C or 18amps.
