Venus 2
My Venus 2 arrived last evening, hoping to get some weights together in the next day or so. I'm planning to use 6 series Ramtech lithium cells ( 4400 mah ) and a Ramtech outrunner and 17 X 8 prop. This is going to be a semi budget model, just to see if I can be close to the cost of a fuel powered model to do the same job.....
I tried it with the little Venus last winter, and came out very close cost wise to a fuel powered version. Hopefully this one will work out too..
So Far the cost is as follows.....Model...300.00 Cdn. servos HS225BB on ailerons and elevator......
19.98 each...Hitec digital on Rudder. 54.00 Cdn. Motor speed controller and batteries are next in line, and it looks like about 450 for batteries ( 3 sets) and 250 for motor and speed controller. that works out to about 660 dollars Cdn. not including batteries ( fuel). I don't count the batteries since most fuel fliers don't really count fuel in their model cost. I just consider the batteries as 2 or three years supply of fuel all at once. This could be somewhat skewed, as I'm not really sure how much fuel I would burn in a season....I fly almost every day at least 2 flights usually three....and that's pretty much 12 months of the year here on the west coast....This model is intended to be used for sportsman /intermediate flying...
The little guy with about the same power to weight ratio is more than enough for this, but I wanted a little larger model. ( eyes ain't as good as they used to be)
