I've got an RC10, since the introduction of my MT2 to the garage, the RC10 now sits.. the MT2 handles so much better and is just so much more fun and easier to work on...
I'm not saying the RC10 is bad, but if you have a choice, you'd probably like the way 4WD handles over the 2WD...
I'm not so sure on the evo, but it's made by HPI, that's a selling point for me.. all of there stuff is just so easy to fix/work on..
my thoughts are there aren't really any "bad" ready to run trucks.. read through here.. everyone seems to get hung up on a brand and that's it for them (I'm the same way).. but I think anything that you choose as a beginner will be good for you.. do a bit of research, ask some questions and you'll do alright..
