Default Another Homelite 25cc success story...

Hi,

I just helped a student of mine convert a Homelite 25cc. We didn't get too carried away with this one, but here is what we did do:

Put a pin in the piston and installed a Frank Bowman ring for use with a pin.
Cut out the exhaust port bridge, but did not alter any port timing(s)
Installed the cylinder with Yamabond and no gasket to raise compression a bit
Installed an 11mm carb
Gutted the exhaust and installed two 1/2" i.d. outlets.
We did not stuff the crankcase.
We used the stock magneto, with the fins all trimmed off and rebalanced.

After only one tank of fuel, it wings an APC 15 x 8 prop at 9000 rpms. We will probably go to a 16 x 8 or a 15 x 10 prop after it breaks in a bit more and after we see how this plane flies with this prop. (He wants some speed....)

Just thought I'd let you all know what a little Homey 25 can do without getting into port timing changes, or even electronic ignition to optimize the spark timing.
