Default RE: Inverted 2 Stroke!!!

I used the MOKI 1.8 in my midwest Extra 300. It works better at 90 degrees to the right. The Bisson Pitts muffler workd perfectly with this configuration. The muffler actually serves to counteract any imbalance that might result from the cylinder being offset to the right. One thing to remember, the balance moment is so short that you would not notice a minor weight shift (axially) and you can shift the airborne battery pack to the left side of the fuse to do the final balance. The Extra's cowl desigh lends itself better to side mounting the engine than to invert the engine. With my Extra, I only had to cut a small hole for the glow ignitor (could have used on-board glow and eliminitaded this hole, and one for the needle valve. I did have to cut the opening for the exhaust tubes, and made it a little larger than required for cooling exhaust.

Trust me on this, you will not regret mounting the engine in this manner. The Moke 1.8 is a real powerhouse, and the Extra loves it.
