..............I am also in the process of painting my Hellcat the tri-color scheme. What would you recommend as the sequence for applying the three colors on the fuselage and WHY ?
I prefer light colors 1st, because dark colors cover light areas easier than light colors cover dark areas.

Clear cote was not an issue on my Corsair, I didn't need it since it is electric powered and doesn't need fuel proofing. But you are right LDM: IF you use a clear cote (and you will need to for fuel powered models) you will need to check for compatability before painting your model with it, by trying it out on a sample (painting something with 'house' paint, then applying clear cote).
