Default RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

WOW, *great* moment with Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Thomas is a great guy, local quadraplegic, scoots all over town in his electric wheelchair, he retains limited use of his left thumb and forefinger. His right "hand" is much worse. Fairly well speech impeded but I understand what he says.

We are good buddies, if we meet at the Wells Fargo I help him with his transactions etc.

He was scooting by on his daily patrol . . . he saw me flying my stocker and stopped for a bit to check it out.

I brought it over to him and let him hold it while I goosed the throttle. He pointed the fan blast in his face and chuckled.

I flew it again for him and after awhile he wasn't looking at the plane, he was checking the TX serious . . .

I mean to this guy the gimbal that controls his wheelchair is his only means of locomotion.

I gave him the TX and held the plane in front of his face. I explained this thing worked much like his wheelchair. He rolled his eyes as if to say, "Yeah, I get it . . . dumbass"

He could work the throttle well with his left arm, the steering was another matter but this guy knows how to work with what he's got.

He blipped the throttle a few times and had it completely sorted.

He managed right left with his right hand.

I let my Aero Ace go under Thomas' guide . . .

He flew the damn thing for 2 minutes.

I thought he crashed, went to go get the plane, behind some hedge, but it was still flying!

This went on for another 5 minutes. Thomas really enjoyed himself.

I really can't imagine, being in a wheelchair.

But to know he can come to my house and fly?

It was a good day.
