RE: VG6000 mode change info
Tony,
Sorry for the problem with my inbox. It's full right now because they're having a problem with archiving PM's at the moment. I like to save my PM's so that I have them for future reference. Anyway, I went through them and found some I could safely delete, so I can receive PM's again.
Anyway, about your problem. While it's possible that you could change the Mode on your radio yourself, you might want to consider sending it in to Airtronics to have it done. Here is what needs to be done to convert it to Mode 2.
1. Remove the ratcheting mechanism for the throttle on the right gimbal and move it to the left gimbal.
2. Remove the throttle potentiometer for the throttle on the right stick and move to the left stick.
3. Remove the elevator potentiometer for the elevator on the left stick and move it to the right stick.
4. Reset and recenter the potentiometers for throttle and elevator. This one is the difficult one.
Keep in mind that when I say "remove" them you don't actually have to disconnect the wiring for the potentiometers, but rather just take them off of the mounts on the gimbal and move them to the other gimbal. Usually the wiring is long enough to move them around because Airtronics makes them so they can be set as either Mode 1 or 2 with the same components.
The hard part of making this change is getting the potentiometers recentered. Airtronics is setup to do this easily in their facilities, but you'll have to do it by trail and error. You'll need to center sticks and the trims before putting the potentiometers in place. While you have them removed make sure you don't move the pots at all. When you put them back into the other gimbal try to make sure you keep them as close to the original position as possible. After reassembling the radio you may notice that you have issues with the amount of throw or the centers of a channel, if so you'll need to open the radio back up and adjust the centers of the potentiometer for that channel.
Hope this helps
Ken
