Enough said Bubbagates.

NOW BACK TO THE PLANE. The stock tail wheel assembly is fine for me except the spring setup. I like how light it is but my springs added waaay too much tension and ended up breaking. i then tried to use it without them as more of a castor setup. Worked great except in the wind. The big rudder would act like a sail and I would get spun around at taxi speed. Finally my grass field caught up with it and the metal rod the wheel is directly mounted on bent and sheared off. I switched to a Sullivan TW that is OK but much heavier...

I think a simple modificaton could be made to the stock TW to improve it. I would recommend only mounting the spring on one side, loosen the nut and re-adjust so that the side connected to the spring is paralell to the fuse (cut off the other arm not in use to free movement). Mount the other end of the spring to the recommended hardpoint this will establish more of a tiller setup like the one used on the sulivan TW I just bought. Tension is 1/4 what it used to be. Now if that spring breaks you have the other one as a backup... I might give this a shot to reduce weight over the Sullivan one.

The tall height has never bothered me as I like to gain a fair amount of speed before easing it into the air.
