RE: Wasp update
TREADSTONE
Unfortunately a PDF Print of the test run my son and I made at the end of DEC 2005 can not be supported in the forum. The two points I would make are:-
1. Our results were very variable from run to run.
2. They bracket the claimed figure- being both above and below.
3. Given the big variation, I believe the fuel claim to be about right and compatible with both the RCJI and manufacturers figures.
We also put the model on a flat surface and attached it to a spring balance. While not very scientific- this suggested about 17.9 to 18.2lbs.
The main problem, we have found now the engine is a little older, is a tendency to flame out - particularly if the intake is obstructed. For example with a FOD screen or intake shroud. I was not surprised that when put in a Baby Boomerang Intro - it had problems - as the breathing in that model can be marginal and this engine seems very sensitive. RCU readers following the Baby Boomerang thread will know all about the problem and its cure.
In short, I feel this engine needs a few practical guys kicking it around the sky
