My RCU flatout is one of the best flying foamies I have had (and I have had a lot). There is nothing stopping anyone from using tape hinges if they want. I didn't have a problem with the clip hinges and found that I get unrestricted throw and an insane amount of it. I have well over 200 flights on mine (including using a VPP setup) and it looks just as good as it did the day I finished it. Every plane has an expiration date, just when is up to the pilot.

I agree with you Mike. All these people have been knocking the flatouts lately. If they don't like them just don't buy them. Everyone has their own opinion of things, some people really like the flatouts, some people really hate them. Does that make one group or the other right? Nope.
So what if GreatPlanes is trying something new. Where would our hobby be if companies never ventured outside of the box? We would still be using Kraft radios and flying heavy 1 channel wood planes in circles...I don't hear people complaining about the affordable computer radios that are available now! So by trying something new, makes GreatPlanes out of line? I don't think so.
Personally I love the clip hinges, it is worth the small amount of time and little bit of glue on your fingers. If you don't like them, well so be it, use hinge tape, no one is stopping you.
